Empowering Futures: 2025 Scholarship Highlights
In 2025, the Second Chance Scholarship Foundation continued its mission to remove financial barriers for young people pursuing post-secondary education and skills training. Through direct scholarships, tuition support, and targeted bursaries, the Foundation helped students remain enrolled, complete essential training, and move closer to their academic and career goals.
In total, the Foundation distributed $27,213.25 in direct scholarship and training support in 2025.
This funding supported students across universities, colleges, and specialized training programs, reflecting our belief that every educational pathway whether academic, technical, or applied deserves meaningful investment.
Ontario Tech University
The Foundation provided $6,408.25 in tuition support to a student enrolled in Forensic Psychology. This included emergency funding to clear outstanding tuition balances and ensure the student could continue their studies without disruption.
Centennial College
A $1000.00 bursary was awarded to support a student pursuing college-level studies, helping offset essential academic costs and reduce financial stress.
University of Windsor, Faculty of Law
The Foundation awarded $2,500.00 in March and $1,200.00 in September, for a total of $3,700.00, to support students pursuing legal education. This reflects the Foundation’s long-standing commitment to increasing access to legal studies and supporting future leaders in justice and advocacy.
Athabasca University
A total of $2,227.00 was provided in tuition support, including $2,093.00 in March and $134.00 in August. These funds supported coursework through distance education, expanding access for students balancing school with work and family responsibilities.
WorkSafe Forklift Training Program
The Foundation covered $678.00 for a WorkSafe-certified forklift training program, supporting a student in gaining industry-recognized certification and improving employability in skilled trades and logistics.
Humber College
$2,000.00 was awarded to support a student enrolled in Computer Engineering, reinforcing the Foundation’s commitment to STEM education and technical career pathways.
University of Guelph
$1,200.00 was provided to support a student enrolled in a pre-law program, continuing the Foundation’s tradition of supporting students pursuing careers in law and public service.
Sheridan College Davis Campus, Brampton [Animal Care Program]
A $10,000.00 bursary was awarded to 5 students in the Animal Care Program ($2000.00 ea), supporting hands-on training in animal welfare and veterinary support services.
