Building a foundation and achieving milestones:Types of Foundations in Construction | BigRentzSince the beginning, the Foundation has achieved significant milestones in its journey towards empowering incarcerated youths. From its incorporation on February 7, 2003, to receiving charitable organization status on June 3, 2003, the Foundation has been dedicated to its mission. The establishment of libraries in youth detention centers, such as the Faye McWatt Second Chance Library at the Hamilton-Wentworth Detention Centre’s Youth Section, marked crucial steps in providing access to educational resources.

All about our programs & initiatives: How Are Scholarship Funds Paid Out?

The Foundation offers a range of programs and initiatives designed to nurture potential and foster transformation among incarcerated youths. The Platinum Dinner programs bring volunteers to various youth detention centers, providing workshops, presentations, and mentoring. Additionally, scholarships and bursaries, such as the Jamaal Magloire Second Chance Scholarship and the Christie Blatchford Second Chance Bursary, aim to remove barriers to education and empower youths to become educated, responsible, and contributing members of society.

Tackling the Challenges:Overcoming Challenges

The Foundation understands the difficulties that young people who are incarcerated encounter, including difficult application processes and individual barriers like mental health problems and a lack of a strong support network. The Foundation offers networking opportunities, mentorship, and support services to assist scholarship recipients in achieving their academic and professional objectives to solve these difficulties.

One step towards a second chance:

As the Foundation continues its mission of empowering individuals through education, it invites others to join in its efforts. Whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness, everyone can play a part in making a difference in the lives of those seeking a second chance. Together, let’s empower change and unlock the potential of every individual, one life at a time.

As we celebrate the Foundation’s journey and the transformative impact it has made, let us reaffirm our commitment to empowering individuals and creating a more equitable and inclusive society for all. Donate to the Second Chance Scholarship Foundation
